The point I'm trying to make is that what you're proposing, while altruistic and a fantastic end-goal, just won't happen without taking that first Medicare-for-all step. It's too big a change, and people aren't on board, nor are the enormous lobbies against it.

You're not getting it. Both parties use key issues as wedges to garner support, but they also both do not want to do any of the things they say. If Democrats fixed healthcare in 2010, as promised, their line of thinking is that they'd have nothing to run on to fix in the future.
So, some support single-payer now, but they're not going to follow through. Instead, they'll again claim not enough Dems in office to do it. That's the rigged system.

I'm saying it won't happen with the people in office who are endorsing it, outside of Bernie. We need new people. Voting for Kamala Harris or any of them by virtue of their hollow endorsement is a recipe for it taking *that much longer* to get there.
