Most of Western Europe doesn't have single-payer. Universal healthcare is the key. Single-payer is one way of doing it. It might be the best fit. It might not.

Insurance Giants profiting off of an individual’s need for healthcare is a nonstarter Steve. There are plenty of ways to Spend one’s money unwisely. When it comes to healthcare there’s a regulation called Fraud Waste & Abuse that should be mandated across all providers.

Medicare only covers 80% of medical bills and has almost no price controls for pharmaceuticals. Medicare is better than what we have, but not nearly good enough. It's telling that you don't know this stuff.
