Defensive much? The Gulf of Tonkin incident, which escalated the Vietnam War. Operation Mockingbird, which is/was about planting journalists and stories in our media... I could keep going. Can you tell me one time the CIA was the exclusive purveyor of truth to the people?

It’s not their job to be a purveyor of “truth” to the people. They provide information to elected officials who create policy and take action. Let us know when you’ve served in any similar capacity.

The American People their employers, you know. Here's another example: Nat Intel chief Clapper lied under oath about bulk data collection, later revealed by Snowden. He wasn't punished. He's frequently a guest on CNN and MSNBC.

The people of this country have a right, and a NEED, to know what their government is doing in order to steer this country's direction with our votes. This whole "If you weren't in the CIA then you don't understand" thing is complete idiocy.

Grow the fuck up. You don’t have the RIGHT to know shit about Ops that said knowledge of would put people lives at risk. You have the right to elect officials who have oversight to ensure things are being done within the law and as prescribed.

There's things I did for work in one field of work, which I cannot discuss. Secrecy happens in domestic fields also. These things, if known by average people, would compromise so many lives and so many operations that keep us safe, it would make your head spin

So, what happens if the government is starting wars around the world under false pretenses, and the banks and other companies who benefit from those wars are also the primary donors putting the House and Senate intel committees into office? Then what?

That's all on the political end and has nothing to do with the actual intel communities. Politicians and bureaucrats are horrible for intel and undercover communities. We get left out dry.

The "false pretenses" are *from* the intel community. They're part of it.

I think perhaps these false pretenses are when the CIA are told to find a reason, say, to intervene in Venezuela. So, the CIA follows political orders and figures out a reason. They don't manufacture these on their own.

They manufacture them sometimes at the behest of somebody else, and sometimes the tail definitely wags the dog. Both happen. But what they don't do is what's right for the people.
