I think we are stuck with two parties for centuries. I think there is a big difference between them on women's health rights, which is my sharpest hook w/ Dems. The .@GOP tax bill is pure fecal matter. However, they will have to adapt to survive, and may lose the pro-life plank.

Abortion, gay marriage, guns, and now healthcare... Those are the issues both parties pick opposite sides of. They don't do that because they believe one or the other position. They do it to solidify votes. It's for money and power. They won't "fix" those issues, win or lose.

Preserving abortion rights are my biggest defining issue. I think the anti-abortionists are sincere in their religious beliefs, but I think those beliefs are morally wrong. I have to oppose them. Allowing women to control ther own reproductive health is the best thing we can do.

Guns relates to the NRA "shotgun"alliance with
@gop. Apparently it takes gun money to fund their campaigns. I'm with Biden: shotgun suffices for personal protection. I was crying all day, cancelled rehearsal, until McCain thumbed down ACA repeal. These are real policy differences1 odpowiedź 0 podanych dalej 0 polubionych -
They're not real policy positions. The Democrats haven't even *attempted* to pass any real gun-control legislation whatsoever in 33 years. The ACA was designed to increase profits for big pharma and big insurance and put it on the taxpayer's dime. They're *all* bad. Really.

There have been attempts at banning semi- and automatics, bump stocks. I was disappointed in the ACA, but insurance company support helped it to pass. I am committed to single payer gov'mint healthcare: "to promote the general welfare"..."and to secure the blessings of liberty"

They haven't attempted to ban any of those things. All they've done is publicly suggest it and then blame Republicans when nothing is done. Democrats are not our friends. That's what I'm saying. I know it's hard to hear, but it's true.

I love to hear your opinions! You may be one of our select few leaders come Jan 3, 2019. OF course, SOTHOR Ryan is House boss, and nothin' good gets past him. I am hoping for a Dem wave, as I think it will be incrementally better, and we can try to pressure Dems as we may.

You can't pressure them when you vote for them. Pressure can only be applied with promise of votes, or no votes.

Defeating an incumbent (if for a salient recognised defect) sends the message to the next candidate but one that change required. LBJ admonished his supporters to stop sitting on their hands and to pressure him for what they thought was right, so he could be seen as giving in.

They don't care. They don't need us for anything but votes anymore. As long as they can make the other side seem worse than them to enough people to win elections, they've done their job.
