I bet Dennis Carlin could write a functional & beautiful political speech. R. Brautigan Poem: All the secrets of past tense have just come my way, And I still don't know what I'm going to do next. We are in this together, trying to get on, keeping heart and mind open

I would be a horrible politician, parent, cop. I would just let everyone do what they want. They’re going to anyway. Why make them sneak around and lie to get it. The prisons are overflowing. Nothing is getting done. Anywhere.

WTF you think I'm doing?
End the drug war, the war on terror, reform policing, and make the people the bosses again, instead of the government.
That's what we need, my man. Liberty from government overreach and corporate ownership.2 odpowiedzi 0 podanych dalej 0 polubionych -

Yeah gotta agree with Carlin on the "again" but "make the people the bosses" sounds like that Star Trek gangster planet episode. About half of US registered voters abstain. That's potential to create happiness, lessen misery if harnessed. We need to see the power we already have

Be your own boss. Nobody needs a boss. Nobody needs a leader because there is nowhere to be lead to. Just take of yourself and everyone around you. The majority of humans are good and decent. The system is set up to exploit they worst in all for the benefit of the few (bosses)

Beautiful to me. The opposite of authoritarianism is not permissiveness but nurturance, helping and taking care of each other. Leaders should elucidate shared goals, not compel respect for Cartmanesque authorit-ay.

Dennis's uncle once said, "I have as much authority as the Pope, just fewer people who believe it." (From memory. May not be exact.) The only true authority is earned. Einstein was an authority in physics because he earned it. It wasn't given or granted.

I do not remember that from his act. Not saying he didn’t say it.

It was from one of his books. Brain Droppings, maybe... I'm a stickler for quotes being real, too, especially with him. I'll look it up.

This says page 76. I went to confirm on my bookshelves, and as I was looking for it, I vaguely remember loaning it out and can't remember to whom, and now I'm wondering what I did with my book.

Not trying to get all "let's talk about family" on here. I quote him a lot. Just happened to be in a conversation with you this time. Utmost respect intended.
