As I said previously if you truly believe civil rights in the US are applied equally then you’re naive. Do you need a history lesson when the Southern states tried to remove the right to bear arms for African Americans who were trying to defend themselves from white supremacists?

True. But the point is we have a slightly murky history of applying those civil rights equally, even today. That’s a problem

But there’s a subtext to your argument that I disagree with, which implies that of all the Amendments it is the 2A that truly defines self-determination and the basis of all civil rights for Americans
