That's immaterial, to be honest. The issue is and always was to allow the people the means to fight back against a tyrannical government. So, if military and police still used muskets, you'd have a point.

Try not to take offense to this, but people who don't know anything about guns are often the people who hate guns. Semi-automatic is one trigger pull, one bullet. Just like a revolver.
