Certainly a thought out position staking out guns, the things, not being the problem. A lot of stats to wade through. And kudos for trying to make the change you believe in.

It seems like your stats based approach ignores some societal differences...swiss conscription leading to a trained population, whatever influences time stats in Russia vs Honduras, etc. Maybe that's your point?

Not too clear on what you think of suicide. We should do everything to help those people, waiting periods seem to help maybe, but you don't think waiting periods are good because Carol Browne was killed?

Suicide has a couple facets: 1) Mental health, which needs to be addressed. 2) 22 military veterans kill themselves every day. That's about 8000/year. Warfare --> PTSD --> Suicide. End the wars. 3) Other factors such as old age, pain, etc.

There's no way to make laws to prevent a significant number of people from shooting themselves. The only way to prevent that is to make people not want to kill themselves.

That's where access comes in, right. Can't stop them from wanting to kill themselves, but you can make pills or something be the easiest choice (and far less successful).
