Steve’s argument isn’t very well thought through. Do seatbelt laws restrict my ability to drive? No. Does having to show ID restrict my ability to buy alcohol? No. And does having to pay a parade fee restrict my right to free speech or assembly? No.

That last one is actually a yes.

Time, place, and manner restrictions. And you’re wrong again, Steve. If I want to use the streets I should pay for the privilege. If I want to assemble and speak somewhere else that doesn’t burden law enforcement, traffic, freedom of movement, I’m welcome to, with no fee.

Streets are paid for in tax money. Making someone pay extra to exercise their rights means poor people can't afford to utilize their own rights.

That “undue burden” style argument presupposes you actually have a right to possess any gun you want without any regulation of any kind. Not even Scalia agreed with that. Don’t tell me you’re one of those permitless carry guys. Or “I should be able to own a bazooka” guys.
