The NRA doesn't *invent* these points. They *use* them to their advantage. They're things gun owners already believe. The first three things you listed are great, but they won't solve mass shootings. Abusers and criminals need convictions to be considered such. 1/2

And "keeping guns out of schools" only works while a gunman doesn't *want* to shoot up a school. Laws aren't magic. Any law's effectiveness is measured by its enforceability. We need to focus on really fixing these problems, not just passing ineffective laws. 2/2

That's the perfect argument for doing nothing about anything ever. Congrats. If the law isn't perfect i don't want it. Blah, blah, blah. No law is perfect, not all crime will be prevented. See if you can't fit "making things better" into your world view.

If you want to focus on enforcement, fine. Make that better. Fund the ATF. Add teeth to existing laws.

Otherwise, you're just like people that argue this is a mental health issue without, you know, doing anything about mental health.

I want to address all of the causes of violence in our society, including mental health, the wealth/wage gap, the war on drugs, mass incarceration, and more. Those things will curb gun violence.

So what are you *doing* about those things?
