While I understand why you see it that way, gun advocates do believe gun rights are being threatened, and they're nearly always threatened by people who have poor gun knowledge. So, you may think "gun rights aren't threatened if we're only restricting *some*" but 1/3

Because that's not akin to Rights being threatened. Background checks are a good idea. I think people just need to keep in mind that they won't stop mass shootings. They're a good thing, but will do much less to curb violence than most advocates seem to believe.
