More accurate: The NRA is a *business* that makes *more* money by riling up gun extremists, and actually is *not* in the business of securing gun rights. The NRA pretends gun rights are threatened, donations flow to the NRA.https://twitter.com/RealSteveCox/status/931329883363459072 …
While I understand why you see it that way, gun advocates do believe gun rights are being threatened, and they're nearly always threatened by people who have poor gun knowledge. So, you may think "gun rights aren't threatened if we're only restricting *some*" but 1/3

Nonviolent gun owners and advocates are never going to be okay with restricting *their* rights in an attempt to restrict legal gun access to people who are potentially violent. The NRA plays on that fear of theirs to make money, but the fear isn't irrational. 2/3

It's happening all the time. I know *my* ownership of truly *any* type of firearm doesn't endanger *anybody*, so asking me to give up that right for the safety of others rings false. CA lawmakers feel the same, so they exempted themselves from their own laws... 3/3

I used to hold your point of view; but dammit, the NRA isn’t interested in protecting 2A, it’s a lobby for manufacturers who NEED to expand markets

Rights are food, shelter, air, water, safety. "Gun right" is a tradition at best, based on an amendment to a human-made document. Guns are not essential for human lives. In fact guns endanger lives, even your moron president mixes up the shootings because there are so many.
