The militia is armed in Article 1, Section 8. There was no need to *amend* the constitution to arm a militia already armed in the body of the same constitution. The 2nd amendment acknowledges the militia already mentioned, then *adds* "the people" generally.

You're assuming that "unarmed" people cannot do damage to those committing treason against the U.S. Rest assured that there are plenty of weapons out there.

The people committing treason are those working to deny our rights, our justice, and our governmwnt representation. Not the people who are fed up with it.

I would actually consider those who would raise arms against the government to be guilty of treason. As far as working to make America the shining beacon that it's capable of being? That's called patriotism. I've yet to see a non-dystopian future where all people are armed.
