1. Background checks and assault-style bans are constitutional per Scalia's 'Heller' decision. 2. Most of my gun-owning, hunting friends oppose the NRAs more extreme positions. 3. Believe it or not, I look even worse in contacts.https://twitter.com/realstevecox/status/930853001618583552 …

This is frustrating because I know you must know this stuff, but I'm going to say it anyway for the readers: I abhor the NRA, but I'm in favor of the 2nd amendment (for a swath of reasons, none of which include shooting innocent people). 1/4

Both sides of *any* issue today are only using the issue to gain power and money for themselves while failing to address the issue *by design*. 2/4

Wayne Lapierre makes $1 million a year as CEO of the NRA. If the govt snapped its fingers and magically made all of the gun rights the NRA espouses permanent by law, the NRA wouldn't want that, because they'd go extinct. 3/4

It's all a charade. The parties both do it, too. All political entities hope to do is get people to support them with money and/or votes without solving the issues that bring them their support. Solving the issue removes the issue from the "reason to support us" column. 4/4
