By all accounts the shooter in Las Vegas was affluent & educated. Is he an exception to the rule or proof the problem is more complex?

That's just plainly absurd. What "causes"? They are multiple, none easy or possible to identify or eliminate.
Socioeconomics, Poverty, the war on drugs, lack of mental healthcare, etc. Those are the causes.

Still, taking away the ability 2 do so much harm would do the most good. It's a human trait to want to harm others. especially in men.
