Police always have a right to stop violent protesters. What you fail to understand is that there's no such thing as guilt by association.
Simply because *other* people are being violent doesn't make it okay for police to form a line and run roughshod over everybody.

Imagine that Tuna are violent and Dolphins aren't: Police aren't supposed to use a net and catch both Tuna and Dolphins.

Rights are described as "individual" and "inalienable" for a reason. Police need to go arrest the violent people and leave the rest alone.
