I'm not even as alarmed by white supremacists marching in the street as I am by white supremacists who hold offices in government

But you see a similar dynamic play out where folks see no difference b/w police brutality & a civilian murdering another civilian

Oftentimes people view civilian murder as worse b/c police officer has authority to be violent & to kill. Normalization of state violence

If you realize that we're all just people, some legally allowed to be violent & some not, it's pretty disturbing how normalized it all is

The current social order of white supremacy, which is an oppressive construct, is held in place by statist violence

There are all kinds of protests & riots in USA. Only those which challenge the oppresive order are met with police tanks

So when speaking of nonviolence, it needs to be understood that violence is a pervasive aspect of the current social order

Any discussion of violence v nonviolence that doesn't take into account state violence is disingenuous IMO
