There is a reason we don't have a lot of first amendment cases involving girl scout troops. No one tends to censor them.

The First Amendment does not exist to protect speech we all find acceptable. There would be no purpose for it.

The First Amendment exists to protect minority opinion from being suppressed by the majority. It's kind of our theme as a country.

You cannot defend the First Amendment except for speech you find offensive or unpleasant. That's the only speech it's meant to defend.

If you feel offensive speech, which does not also present a threat of imminent lawless action, should be censored, you oppose free speech.

If you value free speech, then regardless of content, you will defend all speech, however, offensive, that does not present that threat.

None of this is new, arguable or confusing. This is our most basic principle not as a government, but as a people.

There is a reason those rights weren't contained in the body of the Constitution. They were a demand for greater protection of individuals.
