So why not put it in a museum, and commemorate the same history with a piece of art that doesn't horrify or victimize anyone?

I like Germany's approach of memorializing shameful acts by honouring those affected by the acts rather than those who perpetrated them.

But I believe there would be no more racism today in Germany (and maybe LESS) if Germany left those shameful Nazi relics up.

You can't swing a cat in Germany without hitting a WWII memorial. Husband's family are German, and there is no hiding from the past for them

They openly talk about the war, the horror, and they don't understand the US right now...for them, it's still so recent.
