I read all of this, and thank you. I understand better why that statue should be removed, as it's an "outsider" so to speak. 1/

But I think in terms of Nazi relics in Germany, and these statues here, we can create a society where these things are viewed shamefully. 2/

I believe that most people (>90%) are good people. Racism is learned, and can be (MUST be) unlearned. And frankly I don't see the value 5/

in taking down racist statues that can, someday in the future, be used as a constant (and likely needed) reminder of its horrors. 6/

Especially considering that the way it's being done is definitely going to entrench the racists and drive them back out of view 7/

where their racism will continue, fester, and grow in the dark. I believe a free society should encourage all views to be 8/
