This dialogue (happening not far from this statue) is not equal. Imagine entering into a discussion where the other side is on an island 16/

For dialogue to be meaningful and get the results you are convinced it can get, we need to listen to people who are directly affected 18/

I haven’t experienced racism. For me, I listen to and read work by Indigenous people, and that’s a good place to start to understand 19/

So yes, dialogue is good, but in order for everyone to get to the table on the island surrounded by fire and leeches, we need to listen 20/

metaphorically, listening is helping to build a fireproof boat and investing in a can of leech spray 21/
