Shoe on the other foot, I'd think they were avoiding a direct answer for a reason. It's a form of dishonesty. Politicians do it constantly.

It’s not dishonest to recognize that judging someone as “bad” or “good” is subjective and immaterial to whether they are racist or not.

It's not about whether or not they're racists. It's about whether or not they're good people, and as such are worthy of saving.
