In a thread started about a confederate monument you are arguing for dialogue.

A fucking war to defend their right to legally buy, sell, rape, murder and torture black people.

But if only we had talked it out a bit more... Do you see the problem?

The war ended 150 years ago. Today, we need to end racism, not the civil war.

Can you see the continuum though? That while the war ended they system fought on, enshrining discrimination into our laws and society?

Ending racism is a great goal, but it's like only looking for a vaccine while people are still dying from the disease.

And tearing down statues is like putting the diseased out of view.

Not to those affected by it. They're saying it's like cutting off an infected limb.
