Believing that we are all equal and should be treated equally is that first step. And it's important. But it doesn't end there.

It's also acknowledging that there are historic and current systems in place that DO NOT treat everyone equally

It's okay not to see or understand all these systems at first. But we learn about them by listening and reading.

When POC and indigenous peoples and those hurt by these systems speak, we should listen. Not just because we want to learn,

but because their voices have been silenced for so long, that it's a GIFT from them to put themselves out there.

Now in this particular case, you are focused on how to end bigotry. And that is a noble goal. BUT you are putting that labor ON THEM

When we should be taking that labor on ourselves. That is the least we can do.
