I don't know why this is so hard to understand.

The whole march in Charlottesville was organised around preserving one of these fucking statues. So yeah, I think it matters to racists.

But whether it does or not, isn't even the issue. It matters to the ppl whose oppression those statues were meant to celebrate & perpetuate.

Put yourself in those racists' shoes: Tearing the statues down would do what to you if you're them?

It denies them publically maintained symbols of white supremacy. Hardliners are never going to change, but schoolkids won't grow up w/them.
