Our lesson from the 2016 election is that none of the insiders should pick who the candidate is. We need a diverse, open field.

I've never said that. I said that we should have many candidates run and not have operatives favor one candidate.

I respect those who voted for Secretary clinton

Respectfully, saying her voters didn't have agency, but were puppets of an "establishment" seems unfair.

I believe those who voted for her did so out of conviction. But we need to encourage many candidates in the future, especially new ones.

I certainly think Secretary Clinton earned her votes. My point is that we should make sure new voices have a chance to make their case.

I think it's a canard that anyone chooses candidates other than voters, esp when resources are evenly matched but I hear you on new voices.
