I was put on Ritalin back in my middle school days. It killed my happiness and made me feel like a zombie. I hated it. I think that was the closest I'd ever been to knowing what depression feels like.

At one time, I tried to enlist in the military. Wouldn't you know it, they turned me away for having been on the stuff long ago, even though it's been 10+ years.

I suggest to any parent: If a doctor tries to prescribe Ritalin or any other kind of Behavior Control Drug... TURN THEM DOWN!!!

ADDENDUM: I'm not sure if it's related, but I've also had some problems with my memory since taking it back then. I don't know if that's a side effect or not.

Same. Memory issues, I have problems recalling most childhood memories until age 11, coinciding with when I stopped taking ritalin

It's been true for a very long time. First it was covert (example: brilliant females in sitcoms, stupid males), then the educational system took it up, then feminists arrived, now it's physicians, social workers, et al.

Time for dad's to step back up and teach them how to be men. Say what you mean, and mean what you say. Teach them how to provide and protect their families.

This! Fatherlessness in America is a big problem

Marriage having a male father and a female mother is a solution to family problems. Not having enough money for cable TV and a smart phone would also help. Throw in church and God fearing parents and most is solved in America.
