Empty rhetoric. Both sides eagerly limit the freedoms of the other any time they have the power to do so. Both sides will defend the freedoms they value. The freedoms of the other side? Not so much. That "uniting value & principle" takes a back seat to "win at all cost".

No empty rhetoric here. Both sides most definitely have a commitment to the founding ideals. I don’t intend to take anyone’s rights away. I’d hope the other side doesn’t want to infringe on my freedoms. There’s a difference between anarchy and freedom. Laws are why we have debate
