Today marks the anniversary of the Dred Scott decision. As we look back on how far we have come, it is important also to note that we can continue to improve. The Declaration of Independence clearly lays out where our rights and freedoms come from:

The Bible has and does deal with people in the state they are in. The Jews were enslaved themselves, some early Christians were slaves to Rome. Christianity recognized all as brothers in Christ and the church actually has mostly worked for freedoms for women and all people.
