Blessed are the peacemakers for they shall inherit the earth.
I don't know if my ancestors were involved in slavery or not...but I DO know that I would never think of owning a Slave. none of us can be blamed for what any of our relatives do...past and present
I wish you would speak out more. We need you.
Oh my goodness! Finally the voice of reason and common sense!
Many people's knowledge of this time period is limited. Very few Americans owned slaves. Very few Confederate soldiers had slaves. They were required to serve by the Conf. govt. Many who refused to serve were executed. At war's end, amnesty oaths were signed. The war is over.
I believe Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. would agree with that sentiment.
Enough said! You@nailed it Mr. Carson!
That's why we learn our history, not erase it. Well said.
My ancestors were not involved. My parents came to the U.S. in 1949. My ancestors were in Poland and Russia.
Mine were not, either. My father was first generation german/Canadian descent WWI and my mother born in 1930 to a 1st generation Austrian. They have to make a blanket statement b/c we're white & they can't seem to get it.
