Several months before 2016 election, a Supreme Court Justice died, Obama nominated a new one, and McConnell would not have a hearing in the Senate. Now, McConnell and Republicans are trying to rush a nominee onto the Court less than a month before the election.

Turns out Honest Abe didn’t nominate a new Justice because the Senate was in recess until December. In those days, the Senate was full of people that actually worked for a living & needed to manage their businesses and farms. He nominated the day they went back into session.
