Ridiculous. @Cornell University has blocked students from accessing http://RT.com . Not a good look for a University to block students from a news site. McCarthyism running rampant. Photo from a source who had two others confirm.pic.twitter.com/0zTxPfdBut

Students at @Cornell University still don't have access to http://RT.com . I've reached out to the school to see what's going on. If it is indeed the case that this Ivy League is blocking access, then it is a truly embarassing reflection on the state of higher educationpic.twitter.com/nX3akY7jXt

RT publishes a ton of exclusives & stories that are sourced from foreign language. It is an invaluable tool for researchers on a number of topics. They interview world leaders & cover places like Afghanistan & Yemen like few others. Students studying these topics deserve access.

Turns out not to be true. Tried two networks including the one the students would use. No problem whatsoever. Yet again. internet legend.

From the school Wi-Fi network? I have every reason to trust my source when they say they asked two others to give it a shot. FYI I emailed the school yesterday and have not heard back. Can you post a screenshot?https://twitter.com/RealAlexRubi/status/1046487358248505345 …

I could only guess, but you know, it is not uncommon for RT to be treated this way. Twitter banned them from ads, Google Dr-listed, etc. @DavidBCollum he will check but as I said my source asked two others to try to access as well.

The site says it was reported for phishing, which is clearly not the case even if you believe Putin himself is in charge of editorial.

Well, RT is literally government funded. It's the exact type of propaganda that edgy places like this should rally against lol

There is nothing in this image to substantiate your claim. In fact, the URL bar has been deliberately cropped out of this image, which suggests the editor did not want that information displayed. I can imagine few reasons to do so that aren't deceptive in nature.

In this case, I'd question the university IT staff. If they're using a COTS solution for web filtering (e.g. Forecepoint), then they should contact the vendor re: incorrect classification of the domain. If they're classifying/filtering in-house, then they should fix this ASAP.
