Trump is going to lie through his teeth, bully his colleagues and denigrate huge swaths of the electorate tonight. We already know that. Let's show the ratings-obsessed demagogue that the American people refuse to watch an impeached president continue to divide us.

And politicians have always seized on people's lack of nuanced understanding of elections, to peddle narratives that suit them.

Votes take a while to count in lots of elections, which isn't a bad thing! Despite what politicians often try to say

Voting experts talk about how elections should be about accuracy and not speed. Had Iowa said from the get-go that results could be a post-midnight or early morning Tuesday affair, this would be less trying on the public's confidence. It's that dissonance that creates doubt

Last point. A huge part of this mess is a self inflicted wound from the state party. They pushed the idea that results could be in as early as 9 or 10 ET. Despite a new tech being rolled out Despite new rules being rolled out Despite big turnout expected

Information and elections experts say that lack of info creates a real hotbed for disinformation. We saw a Trump campaign manager push a narrative of a "rigged" caucus without any evidence. Claims like that can go viral if there isn't contrary evidence immediately

One more point I didn't make here that needs to be emphasized. Government officials have basically no oversight over the party-run caucus process. Thousands of election officials spend their lives thinking about voting. They do not run the first election of the presidential year

NH state law requires that its primary must be the first in the nation, so the secretary of state has to move it earlier if other states try to go first.

Amid Iowa chaos, I talked to NH Sec of State Bill Gardner who is not worried: "No, we don't have any apps. We just have a ballot box. We keep it simple." What if Iowa moves to direct voting in 2024? "We will go ahead of them and they know that." Same goes for other states

First of all - concerns about the technology involved here are not new. called me a month ago with a scoop about this app, and we were the first to report that cyber folks were really nervous about how little information there was

We don’t yet know the caucus results because of a delayed vote count due to technical issues — But that didn’t stop Pete Buttigieg from delivering a flat out victory speech in Des Moines.

Journalists don’t sit down with senior officials to score political points. We do it in the service of asking tough questions, on behalf of our fellow citizens. And then sharing the answers—or lack thereof—with the world. My take for :
