It's 2020 and I started the decade off right by speaking with the one and only on the podcast. In this episode we discuss determinism and causality, misuses of quantum theory, evolutionary psychology, and more. Enjoy!

We explain the seen in terms of the unseen. To claim that we can ever reach an *end* of knowledge growth would mean that the unseen used to explain the seen doesn't itself require explanation. Hence we'll always be at the beginning of infinity: pretty fucking cool if you ask me.

My favorite so far of Logan's articles. Wonderful summary of three vital and all too unacknowledged explanations: way to go buddy!

I already binged all your podcasts after stumbling across this one. Looking forward to more.

Zero sugar coating, telling it as it is: as always😎

Theories can be *plausible* without being good explanations. For example: certain theories in psychology until we understand qualia.

A *brilliantly* delusional piece. Author's claim: "The farther science progress, the more we will descend toward utter befuddlement." The more accurate claim: "The farther my reading of this article progress, the more I descend toward utter befuddlement":

Again, brilliant. I unsubscribed just to be able to subscribe!

It’s not that it’s just “good for both businesses and the public” (the economic argument) it’s good, period. Morally, free trade is simply the right thing to do. It’s anti-coercion applied to transactions.

Lots of people are upset about the new theme song of The Making Sense Podcast, and although the song is objectively *the worst of all time* is THE SHIT for keeping it in despite all the hate. It's his goddamn podcast you dummies, also: it's a song and WHO CAAARES 😀

thoughts? I know you've advocated meditating for at least an hour a day for 60 days.

A sensible, non-coercive approach to meditation. Forcing oneself to sit for a set period of time *despite* strong reluctance (often espoused as necessary for 'training an untrained mind' which is a coercive misconception) is authoritarian: you're ignoring inexplicit criticisms.

Why's one's common reluctance to meditate best explained by an 'addiction to thinking/undisciplined mind'? Can't it be a valid critique of the activity, i.e. that thinking about something fun/interesting might be objectively *better*?

I second this, but with the addition of the book *The Beginning of Infinity* to the list. Problems really are soluble.

People often conflate the claim of what's possible *in principle* with what's possible given our current state of knowledge. Doing so makes it easy to dismiss and ridicule the former, but that's a big mistake.

There's no such thing as *direct experience*, of ANYTHING. ALL experience is filtered through interpretation. NO experience, no matter how real it feels, how you think it MUST mean X, how badly you WANT it to mean X etc., tells you X is de facto the case; X is your own creation.
