Why do you guys use such slippery language to get around saying your opinion, just go ahead and say you don’t think trans women are women/trans men are men

This isnt about what i think about trans people. This is what i believe others should be allowed to say about trans people. See the difference?

I also think people should be allowed to express their opinion. So do most people who agree with me.

Well you might have missed the context for your original reply.
@tired_toucan Thinks misgendering should be a bannable offense. I don't. I think people should respect the pronouns, but I don't think misgendering should get people banned.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

Yeah it should absolutely be a bannable offence. That doesn’t have anything to do with free speech though. People have the legal right to misgender someone, and twitter has the legal right to crack down on it because it violates the ToS.

Okay. So you dont believe in free speech as a principle then. Only as a legal precedent. Just admit that you like censorship. Why use slippery language and dance around the issue.

(2/2) especially if those people are part of minority groups that tend to have a lot less power and ability to defend themselves against discrimination.

What i am hearing is "censorship is okay when we do it because we know best". And then proceed to explain why you know best.

Censorship requires some sort of authority figure who has unilateral control over what people can and can’t say. People deciding they don’t want to share their private platform with someone isn’t censorship.

So what if twitter banned criticizing christians? Im christian and i would be very against that.

Good thing twitter isn’t going to ban Christians then, because that would be extremely unpopular with most of their users. Twitter will ban something if the majority of people on the platform disapprove of it, ie bigotry, so it’s actually the most democratic possible system.
