Ian McEwan is talking about Brexit, but this point could also apply to the 1619 Project -- another example of extremism: 'In this case, if you travelled far enough to the left, you met and embraced the right coming the other way'.

King's philosophy is the only chance for success that the United States has. Its brilliance is that its also the antidote to the evil of Donald Trump and propaganda on the other end of the ideological spectrum.

'A racialist narrative, which is what the 1619 Project advances, is by its very nature incompatible with empirical research and scientific methodology. It counterposes to genuine historical research a reactionary racial myth'. There is no credible rebuttal to this statement.

John McWhorter points out that the 1619 Project is seriously flawed -- then explains why so many people have been willing to accept it anyway, why that is harmful, and why this journalistic scheme will ultimately just collapse. Pure logic.

Charles I of England -- King Charles, Saint and Martyr to some -- was executed on 30 January 1649. Here is the frontispiece from the royal defence published soon after, Eikon Basilike: The Portraiture of his Sacred Majesty in His Solitudes and Sufferings.

So pleased to see ⁦⁩ draw attention to links between the humanities & social mobility. No history, no languages… the end of humanities only deepens divides

    1. If you think that these subjects have lower employment success than STEM, you're statistically illiterate 2. Also, this is where universities begin to be nothing except tax subsidised skills education for private companies who don't want to pay to train their own staff.

Now she's denying she used my book, and trying to cast shade on its validity. I will post the screenshot below from a few months ago when she said otherwise and linked to it to support her interpretation of Lincoln.

The following response to McPherson is in reference to my 2011 book and other work on Lincoln and colonization. She also linked the book at the time to support her case.

Only after she realized that I wrote a criticism of other parts of the 1619 Project did she change her tune. Throughout I have engaged her patiently and with substance on points of disagreement. But changing your cites bc you dislike my criticism? That's dishonest.
