I suppose I might have a different interpretation of “antagonist” here, Agnes has always been the most helpful person to Wanda, overly so in the first episode. It suggests to me that if anybody is trying to guide/manipulate Wanda towards doing this Agnes would be suspect #1

I didn’t actually forget them, I cut them to meet 280 characters. You Wish, Teen Angel, and The Charmings were all from that era, and I think Teen Angel might have gotten two seasons and the rest only one, so it’s not the sitcom trend I would choose to mimic the 90s zeitgeist

The 90s seem to be particularly youth focused as far as sitcoms go. The family sitcoms ended up centering around younger characters (Urkel, Cody) and the others tended to be immature young adults (Friends, Seinfeld, etc) or cynical jerks (Married With Children)

I...admittedly can't think of what those show were, though. Sci-fi and fantasy took a hard dramatic turn in the 90s, where previously it had been relegated to only sitcoms. ALF was in the 90s, barely.

Honey, I Shrunk the Kids: The TV Show was in the 90s, also Gah. What a complete dearth of adcult genre sitcoms. I am completely baffled as to where they are going, which why I think they might pivot to light-hearted drama. But I could be wrong.
