Omg boi. No, I was making a joke because he said "Why do people call video games bad" when he called them immoral.
That's the point of the joke. If you want to over analyze a fucking joke then feel free too. It's always nice to see the joke police from the Right. Nice gotcha

I didn't realize that watching/supplying the full interview your joke was based on and attempting to more accurately convey Shapiro's position was "over"-analyzing. In my mind that's like..."bare-minimum"-analyzing. But I suppose that gets in the way of low-hanging punchlines.

I'm sorry, I didn't realize that an obvious joke was supposed to convey the entire conversation of an interview. Thanks you telling me how to make better jokes buddy.

I mean, accurately conveying the basic positions contained in it is usually a good place to start. No problem, anytime.

Was his basic position that video games are immoral or not?

No. His basic position in this clip is that individuals should have the liberty to consume what they want and the government shouldn't use these shootings as an excuse to further regulate videogames. If you spent 6 minutes watching the thing that's brutally friggin obvious.

So he didn't say that he thinks that violent video games are immoral?

Sure. But it was almost entirely tangent to his point. He isn't arguing that we should fixate on problematic video games rather than holding shooters responsible, which was his complaint both in the tweet you included in your OP, and in the interview. We both know this.

It just seems staggeringly obvious to me that the key part of Ben's tweet is the "rather than shooter bad" - as in "stop scapegoating media for people's violent behavior" and he remains very consistent on that in the interview.

*whispers* I never said otherwise. The joke is simply that he also said that games are bad i.e. Immoral.
