This is so retarded all-around. Even if we grant for the sake of argument that he did belong to a white nationalist group, how in the hell did his actions advance that agenda? By massacring a bunch of white kids in a school? Is that "huwhite nationalism"?

Which would make total sense, because he killed a bunch of white kids in a school. That's totally priority #1 on the "white supremacist" agenda...

I saw MSNBC's Chris Hayes initially report the supposed white-nationalist connection, but had the sense eventually to reactivate the long-dormant skeptical region of his brain and admit there was doubt. But who knows? Maybe it's true.

If he was truly politically motivated why would he attack an apolitical group? To what end, on whose behalf? Cui bono? He supposedly hated antifa, but if he was motivated politically, why wouldn't he target antifa? He's just purely insane.

But an attack on people with no consistent political orientation, such as students, is not typical of terrorism at all. Certainly not "white supremacist" terrorism. The KKK engaged in terrorism to advance white supremacy. Terrorism is carried out for political purposes.

Certainly, if he did target minorities, it would be open & shut white supremacist terrorism, & any org that fueled him should be prosecuted to the fullest extent - but even that extent is limited without proof of aiding or abetting, bc the supreme court allows hate speech.

Exactly. He may have hate politically motivated hatred, but his own personal grievances, plainly psychotic, evidently superseded politics. They say he felt bullied, which is absolutely no justification, but it far better explains than some political theory

Right, but the groups which claim responsibility have clear political goals. Without the claim or attribution of responsibility and establishing political goals, you just have a random attack for no reason. Calling this terrorism serves no purpose

Yeah, basically. Otherwise how do you even know who is behind it? Responsibility needs to be credibly claimed or attributed in the first place, then we move to motives.

The alt right are working double time to deny any connection to them.

Any connection to who? Who is "them"?
