To me the problem isn't that he's applying a political lens to his fantasy video game, but that he thinks that what that reveals makes it good and not shit.

that is literally the worst take about the elder scrolls i have ever witnessed 1. the nationalist 'underdogs' are unwitting agents for a foreign power 2. by the time of skyrim, morrowind is basically in ruins 3. no idea where he got the open border policy thing from

I was mostly enjoying Skyrim's politics until I realized that the Elves were the Brits, Nords were "American" Brits, and Forsworn were Native Americans but ALWAYS hostile. Such great depth.

Actually, Bretons are pretty much French, the Imperials are the British circa the East India Company times, and the Elves are the original inhabitants of the land, displaced by invaders from Atmora.

The best part of this is that it completely misses the actual point of Morrowind, which is how its "Foreigners get out" people are literally working with a man whose goal is to constrict a dark, mechanized deity to conquer Nirn.

Stormcloak Scum! I was staying out of the conflict in my latest playthrough, but that swayed me. Just entered Windhelm and saw some Trumptards accost an innocent Dunmer. Imperial, all the way.
