In all seriousness.. would you really not let the women you loved kiss you once on the lips to wake you up? What if she made you breakfast and just wanted to wake you that way?

I would be okay with that. In fact I would think that it was cute & sweet, if she knew it was something that I would like, in that case it's close to consent; if, at some point, I told her that I liked stuff like that.

But if I didn't then it would be weird that she did it without knowing how I would react. What if I wouldn't like it because I thought it was gross because I have bad morning breath?

I assume that because women are more likely to experience some form of sexual assault/harassment that they(on average) would associate someone not respecting their autonomy with being negative.

Either way we don't know what the context is here. Generally you shouldn't kiss someone if they aren't okay with it, especially when they are asleep/unconscious & at their most valuable & least able to give signals about what they want.

That being said I don't think it should be banned. If anything parents should take it as an opportunity to talk about consent & personal space.

I guess, that's my point... if you look at this version of the tale sleeping beauty through a romantics eyes.. I see that they both loved each other and he risked his life to save her. I don't see this as an example of normalising or glorifying sexual abuse.

If we're looking at the full film then theres the problem of her being a passive object that the he is fighting to get to. The film sets this up making the kiss is a reward & that creates a situation where what she wants doesn't matter. She's literally deprived of all agency
