Women never should have been victimized & there never should have been a system that covered it up at every level. That is horrific & every part of that system needs to change so there can be an account & legal process for victims LIKE EVERY OTHER CRIME.

I get that because of that fucked up system things can only really be played out in the court of public opinion for the people who have already been attacked & wronged. I think it needs to happen so the victims can have some sense of justice it will also spur change.

I also understand that the likelihood of someone taking advantage of the situation to lie is low & has historically been used as part of the system that has covered up the initial attacks & in some cases further victimized people-

but that being said I don't think it's productive to say I don't care about justice to the few people who might be wrongfully accused & then victimized in the court of public opinion. That is also a horrible thing & just ignoring that is shitty.

Honestly idk if there is a good way to talk about this stuff I don't have a solution & I get that that's kinda a cop-out, but it's how I feel. Some people might get wrongfully burnt. I don't think that's a reason for victims to stop comming forward or a reason to not believe them

But I don't think shutting the door on empathy is helping anyone & is kinda part of the problem overall. Idk was this just word salad?

I totally agree. I don't like this 'the end justifies the means' mentality. An innocent man going to prison wouldn't just ruin his reputation, but his life. There are awful cases of this happening. Also, if they are too quick to prosecute, the actual perpetrator could go free.

In her defense she is talking about people losing their careers, not being wrongfully imprisoned. I don't think anyone has actually pressed formal charges at this point, have they?

I think the middle tweet is the most important point. I mean, many people are satisfied with the justice system, even though innocent people go to jail. You cannot have a perfect justice system, and if you think that risk is worth the benefits, well...

Of course this doesn't mean you should not try to minimize this.
