No, but allowing ppl to infect others purposely without punishment is stupid and very dangerous
The law seems weird to me, but it’s not “without punishment.” It seems like the intent is to lower the severity of the crime to the level of crimes that do similar amounts of harm.
The goal, while laudable, is not the only relevant consideration. Making it a felony to *intentionally* infect someone with any serious disease is also a way to avoid singling out HIV. Intentionally harming others isn't what we're trying to destigmatize.
