Eh, as someone in academia, there are probably next to no papers by underrepresented minorities and relatively few by women on my research.

I think insisting that we *have* to cite certain researchers would cause a serious problem if there's literally no way for you to do that.

It's a HUGE problematic cycle. Reviewers favor famous people from big institutions, which in turn don't really favor minorities

institutions think by accepting minorities they're done enough. But when their culture says you're lesser...it can weed them out anyway
