there are literally trans people telling you that this is misgendering and you're just saying "hmmm, no i don't think so."
I mean, believe me there are plenty of trans folks who are having this discussion. I've had this discussion with people in my community for a long time. Using neutral pronouns for someone who asked you to do otherwise is not correct.
it would be correct to use those pronouns for a person whose gender you do not know, or for a person who uses neutral pronouns but not for someone whose pronouns you do indeed know.
