I think it's because you get the film permanently? but still that's weird because on places like itunes most movies only cost around $20

They're raising the price under the assumption that you will watch it with other people on a TV. In that sense, it's kinda cheaper. Family movie passes usually go for $40-50 for a family of 4. Disney is basing the price off the premise a family watches it together.

Sure, I guess that works for their demo, but this better not become the trend for other companies. I’m not paying $30/making friends come over to chip in to watch a movie
