Okay, this Tweet kinda blew up & I can't respond to all of the conservatives who don't understand what an analogy is. So here's one for all of them: Bathrooms used to be segregated by race & when that ended White women cried & racists used those tears for their bigoted agendapic.twitter.com/Ucsoo4tr9B

I have always noticed that conservatives tend to have a hard time engaging with, or even understanding, analogies & thought experiments. It turns out that multiple studies have found that low abstract reasoning skills are associated with stronger conservative beliefs.pic.twitter.com/ibvF2jpZPC

It's really bizarre how often I see this. You present a basic analogy, and it's like, "So you mean these two things are the same?" No, what? What would even be the point of that analogy? It happens near every time without fail.

I'm not sure whether that or, "That hypothetical is pointless because it doesn't happen in the real world," is more bizarre. I'm inclined to think the latter.

Right, I see a lot of them pick out small details that are different because they can't/don't want to focus on the point of the question. When this happens it just turns into a argument about semantics.
