Companies invest all the time, but in improvements to maximize profits -- not jobs -- in the long run. The less overhead, the better. And once they go automated, they'll have the edge till the competition follows suit. Companies are machines, profit generators.

Advertising tricks you into believing they have a heart, but it's just not reality. Accept reality, or the workforce (and the economy) really will suffer the most.
