1) I attribute part of that to the decline of the 2 parent household. If 2 adults live together and 1 owns a gun, that's 1 gun for that household.

2) But if they separate and 1 still owns a gun then it becomes 1 gun per 2 households. See what I did? I cut the per-household ownership rate in half while the per-capita ownership stays the same.
