To be fair, I don't think he would advocate for the bar being set that low. I'm not sure where he would draw the line, but I'd imagine it would be quite a bit above middle class at the lowest.

While that might be where destiny wants the bar, the presence of a bar will leave open an avenue for conservatives to continually lower that bar under the guise of "saving money".

Had this happen to me as well, even in Canada. Unemployment offered up to $615/mo (a pretty laughable amount...), but if I earned even $600-1000 of my own on the side.... they would take 100% of the unemployment away.

The system basically encouraged you to cheat the system by working jobs for cash and not reporting the income. It was extremely stupid.
